Ruth graduated from Uniontown High School in 1948. After high school she married Jerry Smouse and became a Switchboard Operator for Bell Telephone Systems in 1949. Jr. They married in Los Angeles, CA on August 10, 1956. Ruth became a full-time wife and mother of two, Darlene and Cheryl. While raising her girls, she was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, seamstress and crafter, and even taught her daughters the ukulele. She returned to the switchboard in 1972 as a PBX Operator for the Airport Marina/AMFAC Hotel in Westchester, CA where she worked until retirement. Ruth was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Westchester, CA for 67 years and the Hornsby Bible Study Group in her later years. She was a believer in prayer and loved angels, swans, chocolate, ice cream cones and lollipops!
