Jon T. Sutton, 92 years, of Monongahela, died at Residence at the Hilltop with his family by his side on March 2, 2023.
He was born July 16, 1930 in Smithfield, PA, the son of Guy and Jennie (Chips) Sutton of Smithfield. Jon is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Guy Sutton, James Sutton, and Howard Sutton; and his sister, Dora Jane Reckard.
He graduated from Georges Township High School. He loved working as a truck driver, and retired in 1995 from Yellow Trucking in Washington, PA. Jon served in the Navy, enjoyed golfing, reading and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
Jon is survived by his wife of 68 years on December 10, 1954, Gladys Goodwin Sutton; sons: Jon Mark Sutton (Pam), Scenery Hill, PA, Jody Sutton (Rebecca), Goose Creek, SC; daughter, Lori Hockenberry (Dan), Clarksville, PA; sisters, Lois Hustead, Detroit, MI, and LaVina Klingensmith, Uniontown, PA; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St. Uniontown, PA 15401, where friends may be received on Sunday, 4-8, Monday, 10-11, with a service celebrating Jon’s life at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Gear officiating.
