Catherine S. Swenglish, age 90, of Smithfield, PA passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 in Mon General Hospital. She was born July 9, 1930 in Uniontown, PA. Catherine was the daughter of the late Oren Smith and Hazel Myers Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Swenglish, grandson, Tyler C. Swenglish and brothers, Oren Smith, Jr. and Roy Smith.
Catherine was a 1948 graduate of Georges High School. She was a member of St. Mary the Nativity Roman Catholic Church and also attended St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church. Catherine worked as a bookkeeper for Swenglish & Sons, Inc. She was a member of the National Slovak Society.
Left to cherish Catherine’s memory are her sons, Charles Swenglish and wife Marian, Carl R. “Rob” Swenglish and wife Darla, and Curt R. Swenglish and wife Cindy, all of Smithfield, PA. Catherine’s grandchildren include Courtney and husband Jacob Magerko, Clay and fiancée Kaela Myers, Ethan and wife Claire, Crista, great grandson Jakobe Magerko. Catherine’s brothers include Eugene R. Smith and wife Betty of Uniontown and Ronald N. Smith and wife Martha of Fairchance.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA. Services will be private for the family. A funeral mass will be open to the public Saturday, February 27th at 10:00am at St. Therese Church (61 Mill Street) in Uniontown, PA. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Nativity Cemetery.

I am so sorry for the family’s loss. Prayers being sent.was such , a sweet lady that I had the privilege of getting to know and take care of for a little while. I loved hearing her stories about her and her husband. I know she will be missed but she definitely will be happy to be with her loved ones again. She will be a wonderful angel. .

My deepest condolences to the family of Catherine Swenglish. My mother, Eva Franckowiak Zerby, would speak fondly of her friend, Catherine Smith: of her kindness and loyalty through their high school experience at Georges Township HS. She also had memories of Catherine’s wedding, as she was a bridesmaid. Pictures, too, which I am labeling and bringing up to “modern platforms” so these can be passed on to Eva’s granddaughter.
