William C. Long

William C. Long, age 72, of Uniontown, passed away at his home Sunday, October 27, 2024.  He was born May 1, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA son of the late William H. Long and June Keys Long.

 

William was a 1970 graduate of Valley High School.  He received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Geography and a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from Slippery Rock University.  He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and greeter.  He was a member of the church book club.  William had a deep appreciation for his church.  He was a member of the Polish Club and Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening and participated with the Master Gardeners. He also enjoyed cooking and eating in fine restaurants. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates.

To all who knew him he was unforgettable, chatty and quite a character.

 

Left to cherish William’s memory are his wife of 39 years, Sandi J. Harenza Long; sister-in-law Marice Harenza Brooks (Scot); brother-in-law, Jerry Harenza (Verna); nephew, Jeremy Harenza (Kim) and Ian Brooks (Mona); niece, Bekah Brooks Moreland (Matt); great nephews, Graham and Asher Moreland; cousins, Susie Rhodes (Jim), Beverly Bieniek Popson (Jeff), Chris Yanow and Cheryl Montre; second cousins, Jonathan Rhodes (Sarah).

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA where family and friends will be received Friday, November 1st from 2 until 5 p.m. followed by a service celebrating Williams’s life at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. John Simpson officiating.  Interment will be private.

 

In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution in memory of William may be made to Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 79 West Fayette St., Uniontown, PA 15401

Bill was a friend for many many years. I willl miss the wonderful conversations with him. Our condolences to Sandi and his family.

Sandy,
So sorry to learn of William’s passing. I understand the grief of losing a spouse. Try to remember good things and happier times, he would want you to. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Bill was a caring and loving person. I had the pleasure of working with him at the March of Dimes. I have many memories of talking with him and learning. He will be missed by many.
