Peter Joseph Barchetti, 92, of Uniontown, passed away at home on Thursday, March 20, 2025 with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer. Peter was born March 20,1933 in Uniontown, son of the late Peter and Adeline Coppola Barchetti, and was preceded in death by his loved wife of 63 years, Anna Marie (Takoch) Barchetti, his brothers, James and Gino (Joan) Barchetti, and his in laws, Andrew and Anna Mae Takoch.
Peter was the loving father of Peter Lawrence (Andrea) Barchetti of Uniontown and Gregory Alan (Lisa) Barchetti of Elwood City; grandfather of Lauren (Cody) Whoolery, Stephanie Barchetti and Paige Barchetti, great grandfather of Eli Peter and Grayson Keith Whoolery. Also surviving are his sister, Evelyn Sandala; and brother Anthony (Anita) Barchetti; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Peter graduated in 1951 from Masontown High School and attended WVU and Waynesburg College earning a BS degree in Business Administration. He was a Veteran of the United States Army as a PFC during his European tour of duty. He was inducted into the Fayette Hall of Fame representing the 1950 WPIAL Championship for the Masontown Football team.
Peter earned his CFP and was the Founder and Co-Owner of Barchetti Financial Services since 1985 working alongside his son and successor, Larry Barchetti serving clients as a tax preparer, accountant and Investment Broker.
Peter was an icon in the community, and he lived his life to serve his community. He was a past President of the local Kiwanis Club, and a long-standing member (57 years) of the Uniontown Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Chief Williams Hook and Ladder Company and held the position of Treasure of the Relief and Boosters Association. In addition, Peter organized the annual Fireman’s Steelers football trips for many years. (He loved to get hold of the microphone on those trips and was a great storyteller, making sure everyone always had a good time). Peter never missed working a Bingo night for the Fire Department.
Peter’s social life and community service included these and many others, but his church and the Fire Department meant so much to him. He was a member of the St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church and volunteered as an usher for many years.
Peter lived his life to the fullest, filling it with family and friends. He was a member of many Golf Clubs and Bowling leagues, swimming weekly at the local YMCA, photography and gardening. He was a world traveler, visiting China, Japan and Hawaii. He and his beloved wife loved dancing together.
