Mary J. Thomas Cook

Mary J. Thomas Cook, age 90 of Uniontown, PA, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025 in Lafayette Manor.  She was born July 24, 1934 in Hyndman, PA, daughter of the late Marshall Thomas and Lenore Mellott Thomas.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Cook, brothers, Donald Thomas and Gerald Thomas and sister, Glenna Flanagan.

Mary was a graduate of Hyndman-Londonderry High School.  She enjoyed gardening, yard work, sewing, cooking and baking.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and caring for her rescue cats.

Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her sons, Michael Cook (Debra) of Uniontown and Gerald Cook (Kelly) of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Diane Rowan (Robert) and Rosemary Johnson (Kurt) both of Vanderbilt, Barbara Richardson (Patrick) of Camdon, Maine and Donna Peters (Randy) of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister Verna Sipple (Forest) of Mt. Pleasant, PA; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA.  Per Mary’s wishes there will be no public viewing.

I am just heartbroken for the loss of Aunt Sis. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of spending time and visiting you all. I spent some time with her in recent years that I am very thankful for as well. The wonderful meals she made I’ll never forget. I also remember some of us kids getting into some tomatoes on the back porch that were waiting to be canned. She was not happy but oh my they were delicious.
