It is with great sadness that the family of Edgar W. “Ed” Price, Jr., age 81, of Uniontown, announces his passing on the evening of Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Ed was born June 6, 1942 in Uniontown, son of the late Edgar W. Price, Sr. and Gwendolyn White Price Crossland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Price Crossland.
Ed was a 1960 graduate of South Union High School. Following graduation, Ed joined the United States Navy and served in Formosa, Taiwan, and onboard the USS Uhlmann (DD687). In 1965 Ed entered on board with the Central Intelligence Agency as a Communications Officer, serving nearly 30 years before retiring to Uniontown, Pa. During his career with the CIA, Ed served in Asia during the Vietnam war, Kabul, Afghanistan during the Russian invasion, and at numerous Embassies and Consulates in locations throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East, as well as Central and South America. While often serving under very austere conditions, Ed also had the opportunity to serve in less hostile environments such as Rio de Janeiro, San Jose, Costa Rica, and Nea Makri, Greece. Ed was a true patriot, and extremely loyal to both his country and his family. Ed was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan since childhood. He was a fifty-four-year member of the American Legion Post #51, Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club, AMVETS Post #103 and VFW Post 8543 where he spent many years enjoying fellowship with his numerous friends.
Left to cherish Ed’s memory are his brother, Maurice “Maurie” Crossland of Pensacola, Florida; nephew, Nathan Crossland and family of Gulf Breeze Florida; niece Jodi Lynn Kersten and family, and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC, 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where friends will be received on Monday, January 29, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a service celebrating Ed’s life with Rev. Dr. Mac Reed officiating. Entombment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
