Carolyn S. Friend Shaneyfelt

Carolyn S. Friend Shaneyfelt, age 81, of Smithfield, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020.  The was born in Morgantown, WV on February 16, 1939 daughter of Gilbert Friend and Elsie Flowers Friend.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Shaneyfelt and brother, Gerald Friend and grandson, Bradley Shaneyfelt.

Carolyn was a 1957 graduate of North Union High School.  She worked as a Home Health Aid for Fayette Resources.  Carolyn was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ.  She enjoyed playing cards, bird watching, being outdoors, hummingbirds and country music.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren.    Her family was her life.

Left to cherish Carolyn’s memory are sons, Dana Shaneyfelt and wife Ronna of Smithfield, David Shaneyfelt and wife Diane of Hendersonville, NC; daughter, Deirdre McGarrity and husband Shawn of Gans, PA; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the FERGUSON-BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 78 Main St., Smithfield, PA.  Services will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Oak Grove Church of Christ4723 Morgantown Rd., Lake Lynn, PA 15451.

Dana, Dave, Deirdre, and your families, please know that I am thinking of you. So sad to hear about the passing of your mom.; she was a sweetheart. I’m so glad I stopped and visited with her in January when she was feeling pretty good and oh so bubbly. I have so many happy summer memories, as a child, staying with your family during the summer and being able to visit with all the cousins,, aunts, uncles, and pap. My deepest condolences at the loss of your mother and friend , Carolyn was a wonderful Christian woman , truly a virtuous woman .
She will be greatly missed.
As a caregiver I was truly blessed to have spent time with her , we laughed , sometime s till we had tears . she was truly A friend
I loved Carolyn and sooo looked forward to my times with her , I will surely miss this wonderful woman.

Dee & Family,

Dear Dana, Dave, Dee, Carrie, Josh, and Family: We’re thinking and praying for you all. Aunt Sue was such a sweet, sassy, loyal, and loving woman. I’m grateful for the memories, especially during Kadena’s baby shower when Aunt Sue won about 3 door prizes and had lots of stories to tell about all the grandkids and great-grandkids. My deepest condolences . To aunt Sue’s family . My Dad. Jack shaneyfelt would always talk about all are family members . It’s been a long. Since I saw her but I do remember her ????Your Ohio family . rest in peace ????
