Alfred E. DuBois, Jr. age 68, of Hopwood, PA, passed away unexpectedly in Uniontown Hospital on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Al was born in New Kensington, PA on April 22, 1953, son of the late Alfred E. DuBois, Sr., and Mary Lou Stewart DuBois. He was preceded in death by his father Alfred E. DuBois, Sr., and brother Kenny DuBois.
Al was a graduate of Albert Gallatin High School. He attended Penn State University as a chemical engineer major. He switched his major to accounting and graduated with a degree in business as well. He later obtained his CPA license. Shortly after receiving his license Al, his sister in law Stacey, and his father in law, William Grimm, opened their own accounting firm William T. Grimm and Associates PC in Uniontown, PA.
Al was a man who never forgot his roots. His humble nature, his complete devotion to his family, friends, and clients was only possible because of his deep-rooted faith in his Savior. Everything Al gave and did he always credited to being incredibly blessed by God. He was an avid baseball fan. He umpired for years locally with the UUA, he coached many teams at various levels. His favorite pastime was teaching his grandson, Landon the love of the game and how to play. He was at every game, in the dugout coaching him and others in his quiet, gentle manner. It was his joy and mission to serve others and donated countless hours to local churches in a financial capacity. Al served most often in silence, never wanting any recognition for anything he gave. He was a gifted and knowledgeable man who wasn’t afraid to share anything he had. His favorite charity was Mt. Moriah Christian School. He was the behind the scene man that worked to keep the school going in any way possible. As with most times in his life, if an activity of any type involved his family he showed up in all ways.
Left to cherish Al’s memory are his wife of 43 years, Renee Grimm DuBois of Hopwood; his mother Mary Lou Stewart DuBois; son, Joshua DuBois of Uniontown; daughter, Jessica Keys and husband David of Pittsburgh; sister, Charmaine DuBois of Point Marion; two Grandchildren, Landon DuBois and Abgail Renee Keys and his business partner and beloved sister-in-law, Stacey Szewczyk and husband John. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews who all knew him as “Uncle Al”.
Donations can be made to Mt. Moriah Christian School on his behalf, at 30 Church St. Smithfield, PA 15478. They are a 501c 3 charitable organization. Psalm 32:8 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and he will not depart from it.”
