Lois E. Jones Rhodes, age 94, of Uniontown, PA, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024 in her home with her loving family by her side. She was born January 18, 1930, the daughter of Gordon Thomas Jones and Leo “Lea” Blair Herrington Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Rhodes in 2014; William D. Jones (WW II – MIA), Gordon T. Jones (Marines), Harold H. Jones (Navy) and Blair R. Jones (Army) and sister, Leo Belle Jones Balin Williams (serviced in U.S. Government during WW II); also, son-in-law, Gary Talbott, Sr.
Lois graduated from Uniontown High School with the class of 1948 and attended Uniontown School of Nursing. She was a dedicated home maker for many years and then worked for the Uniontown Hospital Surgical Department. Lois was a member of Great Bethel Baptist Church.
Family was everything to Lois. She was so proud of her siblings for servicing our country during WW II. She would take her grandsons, Gary, Jr. and Ralph BMX racing throughout the eastern U.S. and Canada. Lois taught her daughter, Linda how to change sprockets on the bike.
She enjoyed taking vacations with family and later taking grandsons to Myrtle Beach, Disney World, Jackson Hole, Death Valley, Grand Canyon and so many other places. In the winter she would take her grandsons and friends skiing.
Lois will be remembered as warm, loving, and always up for bit of fun. She also loved and rescued many cats. Friends and family will miss her sense of humor and her voice on the other end of the phone singing “Happy Birthday” on their special day. Her daughters will forever remember her for all the unconditional love.
Left to cherish Lois’s memory are her loving daughters, Donna Rhodes and Linda Talbott both of Uniontown; grandsons, Gary J. Talbott, Jr., Ralph E Talbott; great grandchildren, Brennan Hartford, Ryder Talbott and Gunar Talbott; brother, Alan Q. Jones of Huntersville, NC; many loving nieces and nephews; and her cat Milkshake.
