Dorothy E. Franks Brown

Dorothy E. Franks Brown, age 101, of McClellandtown, PA, passed away February 25, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 9, 1924 in Uniontown daughter of the late Mahlon Franks and Mattie Hostetler Franks.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Brown, brothers, D. Herbert Franks, William Jesse Franks and Michael Mahlon Franks, Jr. and sisters, Ruth Franks, Emily Moser and Martha Camlin.

 

Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of South Union High School and completed two years of business school.  She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women.  Dorothy worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Albert Gallatin Home Health Care until her retirement at age 82.  She was a member of the Sweet Adelines.  She enjoyed reading James Patterson and Clive Barker.  Dorothy’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.  Dorothy passed her love of music on to her children.

 

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her children, Deborah Simon (Jerome)), J. Alan Brown (Linda) Rebecca Chapley (Keith) and Barbara Cramer (Paul); eleven grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where family and friends will be received Saturday, March 1st from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 2nd from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  Visitation will continue in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday March 3rd from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by a service celebrating Dorothy’s life at 10:00 AM with Rev. Kevin Anderson officiating.  Interment will follow in Jacobs Lutheran Cemetery.
