Dorothy A. Mesaros Zawacki, age 97, of Mechanicsville, VA and formerly of Uniontown, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 in Mechanicsville, VA. She was born January 15, 1928 in Grindstone, PA, daughter of the late Albert Mesaros and Mary Misenko Mesaros. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard S. Zawacki; brothers, Joseph, Andrew and Michael Mesaros; and sisters, Agnes Kollar, Theresa Kostelnik, Mary Becca, Joann DeCarlo and Susan Scott.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are a daughter, Leanne Caird and husband Corey of Mechanicsville, VA; grandchildren, Amanda Caird of Brooklyn, NY, and Matthew Caird of Charleston, SC; sisters, Martha Discovich of Uniontown, PA and Alice Mesaros of Grindstone; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy graduated from Redstone High School. Dorothy dedicated her life to her family, working as a factory worker and homemaker. She took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home and cherished her participation in church functions and family gatherings. Dorothy was a faithful member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Uniontown and an active member of the Christian Mothers. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to her family, her faith, and her love for life.”
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA, where friends will be received on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 10:30 until 11:30 AM followed by Prayers of Transference at 11:30 AM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown at noon. Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery.
