Carmen Dragone, Sr., 92, of Uniontown, PA, passed away on March 4, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 8, 1932, in Oliver, PA, the son of the late Fred Dragone and Sadie Apone Dragone. In addition to his parents, Carmen was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Slavic; his daughter, Vickie Simon; his son-in-law, William Simon; his grandson, Edward Miller; his mother-in-law, Lillian Patch; his father-in-law, Clifford Patch; and his sister-in-law, Lois Taylor.
Carmen served in the United States Army and was stationed in Italy during the Korean War.
He was a member of the St. Theresa de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, Knights of Columbus Chapter #1275, AMVETS Post # 103 of Hopwood, Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club, North Union VFWPost #8543, Valley Sportsman’s Club, and Sons of Italy Post #231, where he enjoyed playing bocce and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, JoAnne Patch Dragone; his three sons and one of his daughters: Carmen Dragone, Jr. (Susan) of Uniontown, David Dragone, Sr. (Kathy) of Uniontown, Anthony Dragone (Jessica) of Fairchance, and Cristina Dragone-Evans (Daniel) of Hopwood; thirteen grandchildren: Lisa Ball (Shay), William Simon (Rebecca), Joshua Simon (Erik), David Dragone, Jr. (Brooke), Tyler Dragone, Koalie Tanner, Danielle Evans, Trista Evans, and Jarrod Evans; and ten great-grandchildren: Brooklynne Smith, Shay Ball, Dominic Ball, Raelynn Simon, Vada Simon, Willa Simon, Cassius Miller, Lane Dragone, Callie Dragone, and Aliana Thomas. He is also survived by two sisters: Julia James (John) of CA and Mary Louise Bercume (Bruce) of MA; his brother-in-law, Steve Slavic, Jr., of Uniontown, PA; a special niece and goddaughter, Pamela Pokorny; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carmen was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who was loved by all. He will be remembered for his music, singing, guitar playing, and dancing. He was always the life of the party, with a big smile on his face and a “hole in the bottom of his beer cup.”
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATOIES, INC., 80 MORGANTOWN STREET, UNIONTOWN, PA 15401. Service will be private at Carmen’s request.
