Alan D. Detweiler

Alan D. Detweiler, age 83, of Uniontown, PA, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Mount Macrina Manor as a result of Covid complications.  He was born in Uniontown, PA on November 2, 1937 son of the late Berwyn Detweiler, Sr. and Mary L. Jamison Detweiler.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Berwyn Detweiler, Jr., C. Nelson Detweiler and Phillip A. Detweiler and sister, Marilyn Penney.

 

Alan was a 1955 graduate of Uniontown High School and attended West Virginia University for a short time.  He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.  He was trained as a mechanic and worked for Berwyn Detweiler Auto Sales.  He later worked as a saleman for Phil Detweiler, Inc.  Alan served in the United States Army Reserves.  He was a member of Laurel Lodge #651 F & AM, a 32nd degree Mason, former auto racer, sang with Barber Shop Quartet and former member of Laurel Highlands School Board.

 

Left to cherish Alan’s memory are his wife Sandra L. Collier Detweiler of Uniontown, PA; daughter, Amy Detweiler of Uniontown, PA; brother Rev. Herbert (Judy) Detweiler of Roanoke, VA; sisters-in-law Jill Barnette Detweiler of Charlotte, NC and Lois Detweiler of Uniontown, PA.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where friends will be received on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 4 until 6 p.m. followed by a service celebrating Alan’s life at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Gray officiating.  Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

So sorry for your loss , I knew Allen well , I worked at Dicks Auto when he was racing and worked on his engines plus I bought my 77 GMC from him I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers , and Sandy My Dad and your Dad were the best of friends my Dad bought all his cars from him and I bought my first car from your Dad , again you have my Deepest Sympathy !!
